Why do we use recyclable plastic bags instead of a different eco-friendly material?
Is plastic really that bad?
Plastic – and microplastic, in particular – is a hot topic these days.
Even when subject to intense scrutiny, we are convinced that the current solution of plastic films is a sensible option when you look at a product’s entire carbon footprint.
Plastic packaging protects the product and weighs next to nothing.
This means that plastic uses fewer resources throughout the entire value chain and thus protects the environment.
Isn’t paper the better alternative?
At first glance, paper packaging appears to be more environmentally friendly. But appearances are deceptive.
Paper packaging does not offer the protection needed to preserve the quality of our Müesli. The inside of paper packaging is often coated with plastic, which makes it difficult to recycle and contaminates the waste paper collected. In addition, paper is often thicker and heavier than our flexible films, meaning that it requires more material.
